Moving Beyond the BPD Cycle

Have you ever noticed that as soon as you start feeling good, you immediately begin waiting for the crash? In this video, I’m talking about the “blanket of cycling”—that strange, cozy familiarity we find in our own sadness and the self-fulfilling prophecy of expecting things to go wrong.

I dive into my own journey from being “palmed off” with antidepressants to finding a level of self-acceptance through therapy. We explore why it’s so tempting to hide under the blanket of what we know, even when “what we know” is misery, and how to finally choose to move forward instead.

In this video, we discuss:

  • The trap of thinking “I’m happy, I’m cured” followed by “I’m sad, I’m broken.”
  • Why the cycle of BPD can feel like a comforting, familiar album where you already know the next track is “Sadness.”
  • How “Today is a good day” can be helpful for healing, but can also turn into an impending sense of doom.
  • Choosing to face your fears head-on and getting out from under the blanket.
